Intro - It takes a whole cyber village...

They say it takes a village to raise a child.  In this day and age, what and whom our village consists of has changed drastically from the times of this ancient saying.  Living in America, families consists mostly of nuclear families, although there are obviously increasingly more complicated family structures everywhere.  Luckily, some of us may have extended family nearby.  If we are very lucky, we get along with those family members who become our support system.  And then there are also many of us who join mom groups in our communities in hope to find a network of support, play dates and sometimes just friends.

With technology, this network has expanded to social media and bloggers, to which many of us turn to for advise, to learn about raising our children, or to just seek a funny antidote to get us thru the day.  As we all become more connected, this network has grown increasingly important.  According to Babycenter.com, 1-in-5 Millennial Moms have started a blog with substantial following.  Now to be honest, my age does not qualify me as a Millennial mom.  I birthed my son at the seasoned age of 33.  But I do think that every mom has something to contribute to this network. And hence, here I am blogging.

To give a little about myself, I am a full time working mom of a free spirited three-year-old boy, with a baby girl baking in the oven.  I am also a co-founder of a childrenswear webpage, www.microfashionistas.com.  The content of this blog may not always be centered around children’s fashion, but that is a major passion of mine.   With many major retailers going bust in the past few years, my partner and I find it harder and harder to find different clothes for our kids.  Although I love Oshkosh, Gymboree, Gap, Old Navy, Carters, Zara, and Target for what they are worth, it becomes so repetitive and mundane. We started MicroFashionistas in hope to find an easy way for parents to shop for independent designer brands.

In this blog, you will find posts about minifashion as well as all other topics of interest revolved around raising children.  I’m not the organic mom or the crafty mom or funny mom, or even the fashionable mom (despite our name, cause who has time for that??).  I’m frankly still trying figure out what type of mom I am.  My main goal here is to just add to this galactic cyber village.
